Superintendent Hosts "The Future of 44" Presentations

Dear District 44 Community,

I hope this communication finds you after a welcome return to the 2019-2020 school year. We were all eager to welcome our students back into our schools and have our hallways and classrooms bustling with their joy and contributions.

The 2019-2020 school year marks a special time for our district. As we move forward with the implementation of our new strategic plan, we have many exciting initiatives ahead that will allow us to build upon those crucial connections with your children and better support their long-term academic and social-emotional needs.

One of the larger initiatives out of the strategic plan is addressing the long-term needs at Glenn Westlake Middle School. Over the summer months, we began phase one of this work by re-constructing the parking lots and traffic patterns at Glenn Westlake and Manor Hill.

Once this work is complete in the coming weeks, the end result will be improved traffic flow, additional parking and proper stormwater management for the schools as well as neighboring residents. These changes will provide greater safety to our students, staff, parents and community members.

As we begin to explore phase two of this project --meaning addressing the actual needs of the building -- we will be soliciting input from our community, and we will be doing so in partnership with our PTAs at each school.

Included with this communication you will find a list of upcoming PTA meetings. During these meetings, we will be providing information about Glenn Westlake and discussing future improvements. We do hope you can join us and provide your opinions about the future of Glenn Westlake.

Thank you for contributing toward an incredibly successful and exciting start to the school year!
