Dear Butterfield Families,
Welcome to the Butterfield Elementary School, home of Jett, the Blue Jay! Butterfield School is one of six elementary schools in Lombard School District 44. We are a pre-kindergarten through fifth grade school with approximately 400 students. In addition to classroom instruction, we provide daily physical education, music, art, library, English Language support, differentiation and special education services. As with all District 44 schools, our school is technology-rich and a variety of tools and strategies are incorporated into our daily instruction.
The teachers at Butterfield School are highly qualified, dedicated professionals. They work diligently to ensure a very positive and supportive educational environment for the students at Butterfield. As a district, we are fortunate to have strong, research-based curriculum resources that help us deliver the Common Core State Standards in a meaningful way. We incorporate the Daily 5 in our literacy program and enjoy a hands-on science curriculum utilizing FOSS Science kits. Eureka, a program associated with Engage New York, is our core math curriculum.
Butterfield School is a PBIS school, and we encourage our entire community to display our universal expectations of being Respectful, Responsible, Ready and Safe. Students from all grade levels are recognized on a weekly basis for their outstanding behavior, and each month we celebrate our accomplishments when we meet our all-school goal.
A very important part of our school is the Butterfield PTA. These adult volunteers spend countless hours working on behalf of and along with our students. The PTA supports the Butterfield children in many ways including funding field trips and sponsoring family events. Special projects and events include working with an artist to create a beautiful mosaic wall, and most recently, a community Color Run. Please consider joining our PTA and getting involved with this very special group.
It is truly a privilege to be the principal of Butterfield School! Please feel free to contact me with any questions or comments. I look forward to continuing to build collaborative relationships with the Butterfield community.
